Why did the guy care so much about his sister-in-law?

Subject.

reply

that wasn;t his sister in law.

that was his baby sister, and they hada tough childhood and were sent to, What i assume to be, Foster homes because of an Abusive Father. He was overly protective of her.

reply

it seemed to be that he and Zoe stayed with their abusive father and useless mother while their half brother stayed with his father (they shared the same mother). it was implied they remained with the father throughout, no foster homes

Their mother wasn't "useless", she died. The kids went to live with their fathers after her death.

reply

I just finished watching and I'm pretty sure Phillip mentioned how their mother would sit in the other room and pretend not to hear him and his sister being abused

reply

He definitely said that. And no one ever said she died.

Something was implied early on that the mother passed and they went to live with their biological fathers.

I only remember the "mom pretended nothing was happening in the other room" part.

Yeah you're right, but something was implied early in the movie that the mom passed and they were sent to live with their biological fathers. I enjoyed the movie, but there was sloppy writing at times.

reply

Eh..I don't know. I'm not going to argue about it any further. The movie was enjoyable, if not a little sloppy.

reply

The mother was entirely useless. And it was never mentioned that she died. She allowed the children to be abused by their father while she sat in the other room and listen.

So she was as much a scum as the father was.
