I'm sure everyone knows that it was Tina's joke to add 'from my house'. The perfect mocking phrase to Palin's stupid question. But it made me curious - how far is it across the Strait? You can't see the 50 miles across the landmasses - but there are two tiny islands in the middle of the strait. One is Russian, and the other is US. They are 2 miles apart. If the fog ever clears, you can see across at sea level. Another island is 37 miles off the coast, and has the elevation to see across the sea.
So Palin was right! But did she really know this, or did she hear some vague reference to it? Did she mean mainland, or from an island?
Minor points. This woman's strength wasn't geography or politics - it was engaging the crowd. In the end, she threw McCain under the bus, and raked in millions as the most important Republican in the country.
But does it matter? You wouldn't want anyone this stupid running the country, but they do have handlers. And we've had stupid before. And ironic - Reagan was her hero - and they were both phony, empty headed ideologues.

We "wouldn't want anyone this stupid running the country"? You're joking, right? Where have you been since 2008? We have Obozo in office making far more stupid gaffes than Palin ever did. How come you didn't criticize him? If you're slamming Palin for her alleged stupidity then surely you refused to vote for Obama who was so much worse, right?

Obama said there were 57 states. He called Europe a country. He pronounced the word "corpsman" as "corpse-man" twice in one speech. He said that his father, who was ten years old when World War II ended, served in that war. He called Hawaii part of Asia. Go to YouTube and look up "Obama lost without a teleprompter" to see the most incoherent gibberish you've ever seen.

If you haven't heard of any if this it's because the leftist media with an agenda chose not to mention it ever while at the same time going out of their way to make Palin look stupid. We do have someone far more stupid than Palin running this country and I bet you probably voted for him.

Big difference between a person's intelligence and how often they mis-speak. Palin is a better speech giver and yes Obama mis-speaks sometimes. Obama doesn't mis-speak nearly as often as George W. Bush did, but how often you mis-speak isn't analogous to intelligence. Palin attended 6 different colleges (including community college) before she finally got a B.S. in communications, which we all know is a joke major. Obama had a scholarship to attend Occidental before he transferred to Columbia University where he graduated top of his class. He then attended Harvard Law where he again graduated top of his class with a degree in constitutional law. It's pretty obvious who is the more intelligent of the two. Not saying Obama is a great president, but he's obviously a lot smarter then a governor who doesn't know what the FED is...

How do you know he was top of his class? He said he was, but his school records are sealed so you are only repearing something his campaign machine told you.
