There was a moment (when the kids from the block find out that Michael is really a girl) when I thought Laure would end up just like Teena Brandon.

Oh my god, yes! I felt like it was a little kids version of Boys Don't Cry, especially the part where all of the boys wanted to see if Mikael was really a girl. It really reminded me of that movie, I'm glad it didn't get violent.

"Amonium nitrate. Kerosene. Fuse. Match. Boom."

Ah, I just made a post saying the same thing; I suppose I should have scoured the board further. What made me sad too is that it probably DID get violent; they just didn't show the end of the scene, cut it off, instead of actually showing an ending for it.

Well that would have killed the film just a bit.
Very glad that didn't happen and wouldn't have been right at all since they were all 9-10!

I think that's a more than a bit of a stretch. A similar scene with the pants getting pulled down I can see but... these were young children, who I assume would not commit rape and murder. The situation with Brandon Teena and everyone...they were all adults, and most of them with a violent criminal history.

Kids do crazy stuff sometimes vso very little stretch required imo.
