Revenge

Did the revenge took place in real as well? Or just in this movie

I don't wanna know...
Why? Because I can't watch the movie in a cinema near me.
Has it ever been shown in cinemas out of Netherlands (don't count the festivals)?
After a year since its premiere, I'm ready to embrace pirates and good ole divx...

CONTAINS SPOILERS!!!

I think Mr. Heineken did indeed spend a great deal of time and money hunting down the kidnappers and finally got them as the movie portrays.
The movie struck an emotional note with me. The youngest kidnapper blamed Heineken for his father's alcoholism which he supposedly acquired while working for the brewery. The kid himself refuses to drink in several scenes. As a child of an alcoholic, I understand the anger he felt yet I do not blame a brewery for his behavior. Therefore, I feel his actions against Heineken and others are completely unpardonable. The fact that Heineken wondered whether somehow he or his company was to blame seems interesting considering many businessmen appear to lack a social conscience when there's money to be made. Locking someone in a cell for three weeks and torturing them as they did is very twisted. I'm glad all of them were eventually brought to justice.
Overall, it was a decent but long film and could have lost a few subplots especially the ones involving Heineken and his wife. It's on DVD so if you can find it and are interested in Hauer's Dutch language work (I've thought he was great since I saw Bladerunner) give it a spin. Just don't expect greatness.
