I have not read all interpretations, but for me, there is a clear parallel between religion and our story.
I would even dare to say, even if this might offend some, that the movie is about religious delusions.
The movie is full of hints.
Our hero fears being watched by a God and decides to behave morally.
He sells everything and feeds the poor. He is told to be patient and belive.
He isolates himself to watch his show like a monk in a monastery who gave up his wife and familly to worship God.
There might be a parallel between the mall tryouts and the religious show from the Colloseum.
The ultimate hint is the parallel between Heaven and The Big Brother Room.
Our hero has cheated God (like many do) to sneak himself in his version of Heaven.
