Incredibly pretentious

Seriously the most boring film I have watched in some time.

The only amount of praise I can give this ridiculously tedious movie is that it is not the most boring movie of all time. There are far more boring films out there. A Summer in Genoa makes is slightly more boring than this film. And it is also slightly more pretentious. I sat there watching the film and after the first 10 minutes I said, "Nothing is happening." I kept saying that throughout the entire movie. I was even saying that during the end credits. I watched the entire end credits in the hope that there would be some sort of post-end credits epilogue of sorts but nothing happened. I repeat: NOTHING HAPPENED THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE MOVIE!

Not of all time, just in some time. I thought Genova was okay, but very forgettable.

I'm not sure you're really seeing the movie in its context. This is a personal view of something that's happening on the French left after May 1968. It's mainly about what happens to individuals when the political landscape starts to cool down. The revolutionary zeal begins to ebb away and personal relationships and the reality of life intrude.

If there was anything pretentious about Something In The Air, it was those characters who were middle-class 'champagne socialists' or simply joined in to party non-stop. The political issues they struggled against only affected them on a minor level. They had the background and financial security to lead a life without struggle, which was not the case for many Trade Union members they aligned with.

I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not.
