Pretty good 'alt rom-com'. Like 'Sarah Marshall' + 'Bridesmaids'.

I was expecting a dumbed-down laugh-track TV comedy like 'Whitney' or 'Chelsea'. Instead, 'Best Friends Forever' resembles some of the (great) recent "alt rom-com" movies like 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' & 'BridesMaids'.

I say "alt-rom-com", because they're all kind of subversive romantic comedies. They place more value in their characters personal development & friendships than the usual blind chase traditional rom-coms emphasize.

And like those movies, this TV show easily transitions from gags & one-liners to really sweet & heartfelt moments.

Really makes me sad to see the current low IMDB rating (4.6). You have to question a public that elevates Chuck Lorre's garbage to undeserved heights...while leaving genuine quality shows like this struggling in the summer.

Agreed. The previews didn't do this show justice, but I'm a fan of Jessica St. Clair so I still checked the show out.

It's not rapid fire jokes like 30 Rock, or conceptual like Community, but it's a solidly funny show about two women best friends. It's humorous, but picks its emotional spots without being hacky or over the top dramatic.

I don't get the hate for this, and hope it lasts at least a little while.

Jessica and Lennon are good friends in real life, and their dynamic is great.
