Jessica's Unlikability in Pilot Killed This Show

The first episode of this show was _painful_ for me to watch. I wanted to slap Jessica _constantly_. I hated, _hated_, HATED her character. Nothing about her was likable; she just came in out of nowhere and started undermining everything.

That was the point, but the show's production team should have realized that this would only be acceptable to the audience if we actually had some reason to like and sympathize with Jessica in the first place. We didn't have any reason to like or sympathize with her since we didn't know her character yet, so the whole thing was painful and annoying to watch. They should have had a first scene introducing Jessica to the audience, and making us like her; then what happened next wouldn't have made her so unlikable.

I almost didn't even finish watching the episode, and I _never_ do that. I'm glad I went on to watch the rest of the show, because it's actually quite good and has a much different and more mature tone than most 30-minute network series. But they really messed the first episode up, and prevented it from having any chance to get an audience.

I think Jessica stayed horribly unlikable for the entire show, and thus was the reason for the cancellation.

I just watched all 6 episodes and by the last 2 episodes she becomes much more likeable. I agree, her character in the pilot specifically turned off a lot of people I'm sure. They made a major mistake there, she should've played it the way the character was the last 2-3 episodes.

i just finished watching the pilot and this is exactly what i was thinking!
I disliked her as soon as she arrives at lennon s home. I didn't even feel sorry for her divorce...too bad i liked everyone else in that pilot!
