I agree with you completely, but you and I seem to be in the minority.

Yes, but given the context you're now barking at the wrong tree.

OP is not able to purchase (well, he's able, but not able to watch) a Bluray due to an artifical region limitation. I, too, have faced this problem many times and it already began when the DVDs arrived a good ten years ago. I hoped that they'd get rid of "content protection" (that obviously doesn't stop anyone but a potential customer - as seen here) with Bluray/HD-DVDs but it only got worse.

Streaming services also suffer from this, as in different regions different legal contracts apply that serve no real purpose. Again, only ruining a paying customer's day.

So, the industry itself has made this inconvenience up and it's not always purely a black and white thing between something being offered for free via today's shady markets.

Exactly. Or even wait a few weeks/months because now it is available on iTunes as well as Netflix here in the States.

reply

Why not buy a region B blu ray player? I'm British and i have a UK PS3 and a locked Sony region A blu ray player.

If you love foreign films that much, please dont use torrents and buy original disks.

reply

this is the only foreign film that's giving me fits as far as finding the dvd. I don't wanna rip it from a torrent site & I've never done so. But when these movies take so long to get to your region, its like they're asking for it. I want the actual blu ray. I'll just wait. Thanks anyway

Any word on a US release either theatrically or Blu-ray? Seems to have disappeared.

Rent off love film, I did this week

reply

I just discovered last night that it's available to rent/buy on iTunes in the U.S. I really wanted to buy it or get the Blu-ray from Netflix, but I may have to settle.

Hope this helps.

reply

It's on Netflix. Just go there and u don't need to buy any special DVD players. The movie is good but not worth buying all these things to watch it IMO. It's legal and I'd assume the same movie without probably bonus footage and what not.
