Happily or sadly?

Could anyone tell me please, does this end happily?

I got so involved in the characters, I couldn't watch after about the halfway mark. You don't have to tell me what happened, just yes or no lol

The movie has a great ending but it's not a "happy" one.

Oi. I've been trying to get my daughter to watch this so I can get some sense of whether or not I should continue. You mean the husband becomes just like his boss? Just a rhetorical question ... I'll probably grit my teeth and continue.

By the way, I think someone is planning to do a remake of this probably for Americans. I thought it was a terrific film so far. Film-making all over the world is just top-notch.

reply

So did you finish the film yet?

I agree with the previous poster that it isn't exactly a happy ending but it's not completely tragic either.

Thank you ... I finally brought myself to do so. The ending is certainly not what I had expected, although somehow I had the feeling that I wasn't going to be elated. I think movies somehow give you that feeling, of whether they are going to end well or not. Probably that is because of the attitude of the filmmakers as the movie is progressing.

I think an American version of this would have us crying in our beer. To this day, all of three weeks later lol, I rack my brain for what else our hero could have done. Especially given the Asian acceptance of his choice, I guess it made the most sense. Will be interesting to see what the American version does do with this. Apparently there will be one. And who the heck will play the parts, where will it be set, will the waterworks be turned on at the end. Stay tuned, I guess.
