underrated by low understanding?

I kind of enjoyed this movie but maybe its too much on talking and some unpredictable twist that is too exaggerate. Maybe if people try to understand this story it can deserve around 5-6? 3-4 is weird for this kind of indie-experimental movie I guess?

I understood the story completely. However, it was very obvious from the beginning that this guy showing up at Piper's apartment was not who he said he was. I said to myself he is A) actually the woman Piper was talking to B) the killer of the woman Piper was talking to or C) the jealous husband of the woman Piper was talking to. Turns out I was not correct, but the twist of his wife being dead wasn't a big surprise considering the way he spoke about her in the past tense, so that didn't really save the film. It didn't matter to me anyway, because the whole thing was very talky, which is fine, but the talking did not interest me. I could not make myself care about the characters, and if you can't do that with your movie, you've got nothing going on. It's a sad story to tell, about mental illness and suicide, and I appreciate that there is material out there for this topic, but to me that was the film's only redeeming quality.

You were right in your first conclusion and your third wasn't completely wrong. I had a feeling John had been talking to Piper online from a certain point on but I didn't guess it had been him all along.

I liked the film. Piper got on my nerves at first but I thought Nicole Beharie was fantastic in the role. I did care about Piper even though I didn't necessarily like her.

I give it 7/10.
