Season Rankings?

I BINGED watched AHS seasons 1 through 6 for the first time a few years ago right before "Cult" premiered Live...

Since then I've watched Seasons 8 and 9 live and rewatched Seasons 1 through 6 3 times total now.

My Rankings on the seasons have changed each time I watch them....

Currently My Rankings are-

1. Roanoke--9/10(My favorite)
2. Murder House--9.5/10

3. Coven--8.5/10
3. Freak Show--8.5/10

^^Complete Tie, I cant decide which I like better

5. Asylum--10/10(IMO The best of the series, Just not my favorite)
6. Hotel---7.5
7. Apocalypse--7/10
8. 1984--5/10(IMO The worst of the series, just Uninspired, I never felt more "The same Old, same Old" than when watching this season, But I enjoyed it slightly more than Cult)
9. Cult---6/10

Overall I LOVE this series....I feel the first 6 seasons are Amazing...

I feel season 7 was in the same quality range but I personally just didnt like it as much

but I feel Seasons 8 and 9 have Drastically dropped in Quality and Judging also Netflix's "Ratched", I think Murphy Is clearly running out of idea's and is getting to the bottom of the barrel

I very much enjoyed "Apocalypse" Until about the last 4 Episode when they started trying to tie everything together and "Pay-off" earlier surprises and plot lines...for me It fell apart and didnt remotely explain events...

1984 was just Uninspired, It should have been a 5 episode show(If that), I LOVE that slasher genre, I was so excited for this season, But literally at no point in the series was I happy or got the feeling I had with the first 6 seasons

I;m quite concerned for the next few seasons, I think Murphy's got to do something total different, Literally reinvent the show and go in places never before thought of if the show has any chance of returning to its former quality, for me, after 9 seasons, it never became more clear with "1984" that the same old formula just wasnt working anymore...

anyways what are your rankings and thoughts?

I’m so bummed out by 1984 it’s so bad! I don’t even know how they managed to make it so uninteresting.

1. Has to be Asylum, liked every storyline except for Anne Frank which felt tacked on and forced

2. Murder House, got me sucked right in to the series, I loved it and had really high hopes for the series, didn’t really think the mistress was that pivotal to the storyline though.

3. Freak Show, Dandy was a riot! So many colorful characters and Jessica Lange was so good.

4. Hotel, Evan Peters with that old timey accent was funny and Matt Bomer was great.

5. Coven, I didn’t like it as much as most seemed to. There was just too many cat fights, it made me embarrassed to be female. I still enjoyed it though.

6. Roanoke, sort of the beginning of the end for me because I thought this season was a mess and they just got worse after. The writing was all over the place for me personally. It wasn’t ‘bad’ just wasn’t ‘good’

7. Apocalypse, didn’t enjoy much of it, couldn’t keep my interest after a couple episodes but I liked it about as much as Roanoke.

8. Cult, pretty bad, made me hate the lesbians, poor Evan Peters was really given terrible lines but he did his best.

9. 1984, so, so bad.

I’ve just binged (albeit slowly) over the last couple of months all series on Netflix. It’s been on my watchlist forever and finally made the effort. I’ve been ranking them in my head as they’ve gone along, and it’s interesting that they’ve not altered too much.....so here, I think this is it so far:
From my favourite to least favourite....
1. Hotel - This completely captivated me. The story was intriguing with its complexities, the set was very detailed and the characters were all very special. It had a nice mix of themes, and the overall look was very classy. O’Hare was amazing. Peters was excellent. Bentley was very good. GaGa was pleasantly surprising. Bomer was.....gorgeous! It was great to see Paulson’s range here.
2. Monster House - I enjoyed this one, as the introduction to the minds of Falchuk and Murphy. It was interesting the interactions the spirits had with physical world and what they were able to do. The dynamics between all the characters kept up interest. It was quite sad overall but seemed to come ok for the majority in the end....
3. Asylum - I enjoyed it but it took a while to get my head around everything because it seemed like the writers had a list of ideas and just smooshed them together (granted some of them were easy bedfellows, but others....?) - nuns, demonic possession, zombie things, mental institution, cruelty, serial killers, Nazi Dr, human experiments and alien abduction! Rabe got to show off her range for the first time, Fiennes was a surprise inclusion and I liked Quinto’s performance.
4. Freak Show - Oh wow, in one word......Dandy! Quite put Wittrock on my radar. Brilliant characters here all round. Lots to get my teeth in to. Good to see Robert’s not playing a bitch. The musical numbers were odd though to say the least! Amusing when Mordrake turned up and it was like a spooky music video for Kate Bush! Was another quite a sad one really.

5. Coven - I found this a quite boring and slow one. I didn’t much like Fiona at all, and wished she didn’t have as much screen time; pretty bored of Lange’s snarly, drinking, bitchy characters, I want her to do something different! I like the sets, locations and historical stuff. Bates was good and Bassett was on fire! The Kyle character was a bit of fun, Madison annoying. The spinning camera work was queasy and the Stevie Nicks interludes were cheesy.
6. Apocalypse - where this one was going was anyone’s guess but at least it made sense in the end. Fern was great, Jackson’s look (especially post-resurrection) was on point and I enjoyed seeing Bassett’s voodoo queen sass back. It was pretty immense how it tied so many previous things together, I really got a kick out of that. I even liked Madison this time and Sidibe was looking good. Stevie Nicks was back though - shame. Was a bit weird though overall!
7. Cult - this is only here (and not at the worst rank) purely because of getting our monies worth out of Peters (although this was also true for Apocalypse) with his central and multiple performances. Overall I found the series to be plain nasty. I didn’t like the anti-men/S.C.U.M. stuff and everything was so grim, gruesome and just....nasty. I didn’t like Winter’s character and Ivy’s death; everything is so precise in these things, but that’s just a shoddy and inaccurate choice because Arsenic doesn’t kill that quickly, even a large dose.
8. Roanoke - I didn’t realise it was a documentary kind of set up, which set me back, although it was a refreshing idea and it was fine really once I got used to it. I found this series very gory; it felt the most brutal and unnecessarily so. I should have liked it the best because of its historical nature, but the accents of the Roanokers (Bates, GaGa and co.) was abysmal and the worst thing!! Best thing was Peters’ in costume and his character’s storyline and the interesting house!

I’m sure there’s more to say, but can’t remember everything lol
