1984 = worst season

What a mess. There is no plot and I wouldn't be surprised if it was ad-libbed. Even the make up and effects are amateurish. The burned face keeps changing between scenes and episodes, it looks like latex on toilet paper with about 5 minutes of makeup.

I disagree. I think it is pretty good so far. Roanoke was the worst by far.

reply

I disagree. I think this season is good and I think Roanoke was good too.

They're very different and I think both were done very well.

reply

What do you think was the worst season?

reply

You might not believe it but I don't think there has been a "worst season". I love AHS and I've liked all of them.

If I have to answer, I guess I have to say Freak Show. Don't get me wrong, I liked Freak Show a lot, but out of all of them, I liked it the least.

reply

Freak Show is my favorite. How funny is that?

reply

Well, it just proves that AHS has something for everyone. Depending on one's taste determines which seasons we like better than others.

I personally think AHS is really a great show.

reply

Roanoke.

reply

Roanoke was bad but this is worse. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if there were no writers and no script, the actors made it up as they went along.

reply

I'm starting to agree. I'll reserve my final decision until the last episode, but so far for me it started out interesting and now i'm leaning more towards it being my least favorite. Some of the twists are interesting but there are so many that i'm like "eh..." BUT we will see.

reply

I think my biggest gripe with it so far is that I'm bored.

reply

Yeah it's really boring. I don't understand the people who are giving it glowing reviews.

reply

For me Apocalypse was the worst by far.

reply

I liked Apocalypse better than Freak Show, Roanoke and Cult.

reply

For me Roanoke was by far one of their best.

This season is all over the place though - I wonder when the story will finally start gelling, if at all.

I think 1984 is an excellent parody of the 1970's/80's slasher film genre. Most of those films were silly, gory, and made no sense and 1984 is just that so far. I think they're doing an excellent job of recreating this genre.

reply

It's not. I watched a bunch of 80's slashers in anticipation of the season and this isn't an 80's slasher nor a parody of one, it isn't anything.

I sort of agree with you. I watched all the seasons of AHS and this is the only one I completely fail at finding entertaining and I am a huge fan of 80's horror. I cannot really point what it is about it but I feel like these characters are not interesting enough for me to keep watching.

reply

AHS fans are so fickle and delusional yet they keep coming back after "the worst season ever".

I remember during the IMDB days when people were calling Coven and Freakshow the worst of the worst yet they came back for subsequent seasons only to complain more.

reply

You're not wrong. I'm not a hate watcher and have quit on a couple of seasons and would have quit on this one except I'm watching it with other people which makes it more bearable. But it's still the worst season and just bad television.

reply

I like it because it's suppose to be campy and if you watch it within the context of the era you can also appreciate the level of lampooning going on. I also think the twist was done rather cleverly and is much better job of subverting expectations as they say from that other series that went down the shitter on HBO.

reply

I keep going back and forth. I really liked this last episode. I cracked up seeing them killing Limahl. I wonder if he got a kick out of it. I wonder if he knows. Sometimes the endings draw me in. There's two episodes left so we will see. It's not been my favorite, but so far i've finished all the seasons, even if I had to take a break and go back to them.

reply

Cult was the worst for me...so far. This season isn't the best that's for sure...but still Cult goes down for me as terrible.

reply

I at least finished Cult. I bailed out on Roanoke, Apocalypse and 1984. I only watched the premiere episode of 1984 and I was out. I at least watched 3 or 4 episodes of the other two I stopped watching. 1984 could be the worst, but I don't know since I only saw one episode and didn't like it at all.

reply

I bailed on Hotel after one episode but some claim it's one of the better seasons so I might go back and try again.

reply

I thought Hotel was fantastic. Give it another try :-)

reply

Cult was bad, I quit after 4 episodes when it aired but went back this year and finished it. Cult at least had interesting political commentary, showing the hypocrisy and manipulations of left/right politics. It also had Evan Peters, who IMO, deserves a best actor award for his performance. But mostly it was dumb and meandering.

reply

In my opinion, it was a tie between Asylum and Hotel

reply

Evan Peters ain't all that.

reply

He was in Cult.

reply

For those that only watched the first two episodes you did not stick around long enough. It did suck until twists start happening and well camp redwood became the same as Murder House if you get what I mean. The second half of the season is really good and becomes a lot different than first two episodes. Our main character boogeyman goes through a evolution. He actually was not the true evil in the story. I like how this show misleads us and the first two episodes do this. I thought I was going to hate the storyline for this season.
