I liked the "original" enough. I think there is a lot of room for Arab culture in mainstream filmmaking, though I would have preferred a more original premise. Also, the world needs to see Arab images that are more complex than jihadist imams and suicide bombers. I will see this.

Just watched this recently. I don't think this is anything like Taken. If Taken was about a foreign chaotic police state government authority abducting your child because of your past, I'd say yeah another daughter abduction story, but this story doesn't follow the daughter's struggles at all. The father can't run around shooting at everyone because in some ways these aren't your typical bad guys. This is much more drama/suspense based as a movie rather than action thriller.
