Good flic but I hate movies based on the utter stupidity of one person. Anyone who goes to a war torn country with LESS than zero human rights should EXPECT to be kidnapped, tortured and killed.
What? The daughter thought she could waltz in and out of Sryia whilst investigating her father's questionable past? Only a total moron brain dead person would attempt something like that. It was SO over the top that it spoiled the whole movie for me.

I have like Alex since DS9 where I thought he did some of his best acting.

How old are you? I look back at the things I have done in my teens to 30s and wonder how it is that I didn't die.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.

If this is as I understood before the Arab Spring then Syria was totally safe country to visit. I have been there twice. Absolutely nothing would have happened to you there. Of course if you start investigating something about the government then you might get into trouble.

The daughter just went there to learn about his father and she didn't have a clue about his past so it should have been fine.

If this is after Arab Spring and when the crisis of Syria started then I agree that it would have been extremely stupid to go there...
