Christians?

These girls seem kind of wild, sometimes, for them to be Christians. Like having kissed a girl?

reply

That stripping episode really went off the Christian girls and the good clean fun track. I'm not Christian but I noticed a slight change in the tone of the show.

reply

I don't really see anything different. I just thought that was a little non-Christian.

reply

I noticed that in the episode, but I attributed it to them maybe wanting to appear less "dull" to their viewing audience. Or maybe the whole making out with a female stuff happened before they became "born-again" *shrug*

reply

I thought they have been born again since they were little. Also, I thought that they said they were not going to confine to Hollywood.

reply

Not sure at what point each of them chose to realize/affirm their relationship with Christ and live life in that way (as opposed to being born to Christian parents and just going along with their belief system). But I recall them referring to themselves as "born again" some years ago on a television program. And I always understood being "born again" to mean "Okay, I was living a sinful life, so let me start over and try not to do the same stuff."

Overall, they don't seem to be living a "Hollywood" lifestyle to me. They're both married, supposedly to their one and only lover. Seems to me like the whole making out with a chick thing happened at some point before they were married. And besides, being a Christian doesn't mean that you never ever sin and live a perfect life. It just means you have a relationship with the Lord and that you constantly try to live His way. As a Christian, you're supposed to move past your sins, learn from them, and avoid doing the same thing again. Watching the ep, I didn't get the feeling that either of them made out with another woman recently.

@mizz: LOL ! Great minds think alike mizzhollywood. Thank you, well said. I was thinking the SAME EXACT thing ! I didn't understand how they could be Christians and do that ! And get drunk, say curses, have a tattoo, go to a strip club and do a burlesque show. Truthfully, I think they are trying to spice up the season, by being bad. In seems like everyone in Hollywood no matter how "good" they try to be cant stay that way in Hollywood.

Being a Christian simply means you have accepted Christ as your savior, but no Christian is without sin. So, I'm not sure how the behavior you listed means they're not Christians.

reply

@za: That is not all, lol. You have to follow his footsteps. And God's commandments. And you right about Christians sinning, especially due to imperfection. And the things that I listed, would a follower of Christ do that ?

reply

That is not what makes you a Christian. Being a Christian is accepting that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. There is a difference between being a Christian and living what people believe to be a Christian lifestyle. Followers of Christ sin all of the time. That is the nature of being human.

reply

@za: Yes it actually is. Anybody can believe something, but practicing is a totally different ball game.

reply

Accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior makes you a Christian. Anything above that depends on the denomination and what they follow, but it is not expressly stated in the Bible.

For example, Pentacostals think you aren't Christian until you've spoken in tongues. That is not stated anywhere in the Bible, but that is what they choose to believe. Catholics pray to the virgin Mary, but other denominations don't believe in praying to her at all.

They are both examples of denominations within the same religion because they believe Christ is the Son of God and he died on the cross for our sins, but they have different beliefs. The foundation of Christianity is the same across all denominations. Once you have accepted Christ, you are a Christian.

No Christian is without sin, not even the ones you consider "practicing" Christians.

reply

Zabbree, I completely agree with you that accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior makes you a Christian. I think the thing we sometimes miss is what it means to make someone your "Lord". It mean submitting to their will, their authority, following the guidelines they supply. Jesus never had a cavalier attitude about sin. Sin was and has always been abhorrent to God. I do not agree that sinning makes you human; it just makes you a sinner. "Should we continue in sin that grace may abound"? "Surely not," as the Apostle Paul said. We all sin, yes, but we should be constantly (and successfully) striving to not sin. After all, Jesus (not a denomination) said "if you love me follow my commandments". And again, Jesus said, "I forgive you, go and sin no more." Christians have been empowered with the Holy Spirit to overcome sin; we don't have to give into temptation. (1 Cor 10:13). I won't go into what is and isn't a sin b/c I think the Bible more than makes that clear. I do think it's a disservice to our faith and our Savior when we claim that we are Christians, i.e., followers of Christ and yet our lifestyles & choices are so completely out of alignment with His teachings, statutes, and commandments. I am in no way saying this is true of Tia or Tamera. My post wasn't really about them, but rather about being a Christian in word and in deed. As far as Tia and Tamera, I know nothing of their current beliefs. They don't discuss it on the show, and there has been no mention of God, prayer, faith, nor have there been any segments/scenes of them going to church, getting their children christened/baptized, etc. that would clue one in on their current religious beliefs. At one point, several years ago, they were very vocal about their faith.

reply

No offense, but you will never be without sin. I think that's the part most people who are not Christians do not get. If you confess your sins and are truly repentent, Micah 7:19 says your sins will be cleansed and cast into the sea, but nothing in the Bible says once saved you will not sin. Being human means we have free will, and with that comes the responsibility of living a Godly life and repenting for your sins.

IMO, they don't have to have episodes proving their faith. It is enough for me that they have always stated they are Christians. As Christians, it is stated we all fall short of the glory of God. We are to continually work to be worthy, but any Christian that says they never sin or fall short of God's glory is not telling the truth.

You make a good point. I've noticed that as well. And when I saw the strip club/Vegas episode, in consideration of all the other episodes I also thought - how come you never see them go to church or even pray over their food. I'm not saying bash people over the head with religion. But we get to see them drink, go to clubs, dance, talk about kissing girls and having sex, and a host of other things that are important to them but NOTHING faith-related. I couldn't see me doing a show and something that was important to me and a big part of my lifestyle not being mentioned or displayed in some way.

On "The Real" they actually mentioned often that Tamera was a "church girl" or a "good girl" in regards to her beliefs which was good.

"They told you you were stupid, ugly and doomed to fail............and you believed them"

reply

Are you kidding? They can't have tattoos and still be considered good Christians? And they hardly ever curse and I can count on one hand the number of times they had to be bleeped. I know that cursing is cursing and it ins't a quantity issue but you make it sound like they talk like the Osbournes.

Don't puke in the punch and tell me it's alphabet soup.

reply

@mizz: Funny I had even asked Tia that. And she said: Yes and you? I was like are you serious?! Why are you asking me, I'm asking you?! LOL

reply

Where did you see her to ask that? Twitter? lol

reply

@mizz: Yep,lol.

reply

Oh wow. I can't believe she answered you back.

reply

@miz: Yep the only thing she bothered to answer back. Whenever I complimented her or asked her any questions about her hairstyles, I didn't hear a peep. But I could care less, because something was telling form the beginning not to follow her. I always preferred Tamara instead.

reply

I like them both, but I like Tamera better too. Even though I like them, I hate that they sometimes relate hair problems to black people even though they are mixed.

reply

@mizz: Yes. Well even though someone is half white and black, they can get black hair, even if not completely, then somewhat.

reply

Rarely do mixed people have black hair. Theirs is not. It's just like mixed people's hair.

reply

@mizz: Well being that their mixed, it would be half and half.

reply

But it would be curly and not kinky.

reply

@mizz: I'm done.

reply

Ok good.

reply

Was she wrong to ask you after answering your question?

reply

@zab: No, but I felt like it was in a fresh way. Because I had made mention of some other things. So it wasn't in a good light.
