So I hear this might be a reboot of the Japanese series.

More of a sequal if you ask me and I am looking forward to it.

I'd be all for a sequel.

Akane is a high school teacher who hears a rumor from her students that there is actual footage on the Internet of someone's suicide. The footage is said to drive anyone who sees it to also commit suicide. Akane does not believe the rumor at first, but when one of her female students dies after viewing the footage, she and her boyfriend Takanori are fatefully drawn into the horror that has been created by the man who appears in the suicide footage, Kashiwada. Kashiwada's intention is to create chaos in the world by bringing back Sadako and the power of her curse. Now Akane has to fight against Sadako and Kashiwada to save the lives of herself and Takanori.

Definitely sounds like a sequel! It sounds really different from all the others, so I'm hoping it has a different story to tell and it turns out well!

So someone finally used some sense and put Sadako online.

I hope this will save the reputation of Japanese horror and make them stop doing fake documentaries and splatter films.

I've seen all the Japanese "Ringu" movies and read the original novel trilogy by Koji Suzuki. Can't wait to watch Sadako 3D in the theatre with my friends when it shows in my country. hahahaha!

PS: Gotta love the ad campaign they're doing in Japan for it! It's full of lols! Google it so you know what I mean.

I'm gonna eat your brains to gain your knowledge!!!

I saw the movie last week when I was in Japan.
It's not a reboot, more of a sequel, though it really has nothing much to do with the original story whatsoever, and factwise does not follow on particularly accurately ( i dont want to say too much to spoil it for anyone!)- it is really more of a novelty movie for 3D. Saying that, its entertaining and worth the watch!

OK my 2 yen's worth:

I've seen it - it's definitely entertaining. The story has been modernized as no-one uses video tapes any more. Not giving away any spoilers but the movie does move into I would say - the wrong kind of horror movie genre near the end.
