Not sure if...

... the novel sucks or this adaptation sucks. Accordingly to someone I know, the comic adaptation of the book is just as unintentionally hilarious as this film. And just in case you don't already know, this is not a reboot of The Ring.

...I'm actually a real fan of the original japanese series, I didn't even mind the Hollywood remake, (it was pretty decent & kind of opened up the asian horror genre to some people who hadn't any exposure to it previously) ...but this one, eeesh! The only similarities to the Ring, is the well, a long-haired girl named Sadako and...well, that's about it. And come to think of it, the psychotic, maniacal guy in the "viral" cursed video, never actually calls her "Sadako", only ever refers to her as "S" and the "resurrection of S"

Hilarious, is a good description. Hilariously bad...I watched a version that somebody had apparently used an online translator to make the subs, so that only added to the madness. On the plus side, the old policeman had some of the best lines, I found myself wishing he'd show up when the really crazy stuff started happening. Sadly (or not) I didn't see it in 3D, though I'm not sure that would have done much to...enhance it.

I say, watch this, then go watch the original Ringu. It will all become clear. This was just an attempt to draw in an audience by the use of it's name and suggestion of it's affiliation with a popular,(and rightly creepy)well-known franchise.

PS, I read your review (sorry, after I wrote what I wrote ;P ) but it was funny stuff lol (and yes, I thought they were brother and sister too hahaha!)

I thought it was entertaining but it doesn't hold a candle to the old Ringu films. Still its worth a watch.
