She is unbelievably awesome!

Yep, I'm watching the HBO production of her Monster Ball concert in NY. This woman blows me away. Now SHE knows how to put on a concert. I don't know how she does it. This girl moves constantly and with perfect grace, and she never misses a bloody note! How hard it must be, I'd imagine, to be bouncing around on stage and simultaneously sing (and it's expected). She is truly a show of her own. I don't know how anybody can not like her. Even if her musical style isn't what you'd like, you can't help but admire her vocal skills as an artist. I'm converted. I adore, adore, adore her.

I cannot help but agree. In fact I will admit that this show brought tears to my eyes on several occasions. Her inspiring words, music and theatricality. Man, she makes living in texas more bearable!

Not too fond of the Texas heat I take it? I'm in New England, the ever so liberal state of MA, and spent 20 years on stage doing "performance art pieces." But that's not why I'm writing. Well maybe it is, because, since I've done a teeny bit of what she does, just in a different way (I was involved in Heavy Metal),..she blows me out of the water with her skill.

I have to admit that in addition to her music and writing skill, one of the things I find hottest on her is....her voice. That may shock the people who go for the flair and costumes. But the pipes on her,...I'm totally floored.

PS: Why don't you really like Texas?

What do you mean they edited out all her videos? What did I miss out on? How were videos used for the Monster Ball at MSG? The HBO thing I just watched included scenes of her back stage getting changed and ready for the next song, and in several of her songs they projected stuff onto the giant screen behind her,...or she was (and God only knows how they pulled this off) these incredible visuals from the chandelier into the tornados, the giant monster with glowing eyes and tentacles. Even the involvement with the dancers was incredible. It was a huge concert (24,000 people I believe). So what videos did they edit? I didn't get the impression they edited the concert all that much. I know that did, but it was still thorough. It was beautiful. She knows how to excite and work a crowd, to be sure.

I was flipping through youtube and have watched several of her performances for Monster Ball at MSG (she did 5 shows, right?) They're very similar, but likewise, there are some very big differences. I watched the HBO special on her and found her performance to be exceptional.

Then, I'm going through youtube and I come across other vids posted of the same concert, but on different days, and some of those look,...well, not nearly as strong as the HBO special. HBO showed her always quite well composed.

The vids on youtube, even of the same songs or series of songs, are not nearly as well performed. I can now say I've seen some MSG footage where she does look just dragged out, and even slightly out of step, or so it seems, sometimes. So now I can say I've seen some footage of MB at MSG, and it wasn't the usual caliber I'd hold her up to and yes, it lacked vigor.

Makes me want to get the CD though. :)
