IMO, she showed energy in leaps and bounds. She reminded me of Axl Rose. If you've ever been to a GnR concert you'll remember how he'd sing, sing like a powerhouse with a strong voice, sing impossible notes, not rely on his mic to do all the work, all the while running frantically all across and up and down the stage. GaGa was the same, she was amazing. I'm thinking I watched something different because what I saw, she was FULL of energy.

I also think people don't realize how hard it is to jump around and dance while singing and not let the jumping and dancing affect your voice.

She's a powerhouse!

It may also be that be "our ear" or our expectations and experiences. There are some artists, like Axl Rose, who I admire so much, and sure, he goes off now and then, but either my like for him may override the importance or perception of that. Not really sure. I've also been a GnR fan for decades. Lady GaGa is pretty new to me. I think I started paying attention to her around the meat dress time and when I heard she "gave" (?) Adam Lambert one of her songs. And Adam, again, he could sing the phone book, and it works. For me.

I think I feel amazingly overwhelmed with her. To my ear she has a powerful voice. A strong voice. I hear what "may" be going off, but I'm not as big a fan that I "expect" certain pitches (like I can with GnR, ie) She puts on such a show, a production, the elaborateness of all that is GaGa I find myself admiring.

I do agree, there were some songs she seemed to sing more strongly. For me my favorite was "Show Me Your Teeth." I had never heard it before, so to my ear, it was great. I've watched MSGMB three times now, and I still feel riveted.

I'm not a singer (I played drums)...so I defer to those with more experience if they're talking about technical skills. I can only speak of how I admire the hell out of her talent and performances. I still don't see (in 3 viewings) signs of her stressing out or being overworked. But I will look more closely. I appreciate being taught things from different perspectives.

Listen, whenever someone starts a post with a headline like "hmmmm", I always know it's gonna be a snarky asswipe kind of post. And as you can see, I'm seldom wrong!
