Many thanks for the heads up, watching it now on 4od.

I watched 'Into the Abyss' last week and after researching it on here I stumbled across this new documentary by the same creator, Werner Herzog.

The thing that troubles me is that most of these people on death row (with the exception of Michael Perry) seemed like regular people when they were being interviewed, it's only until you find out the details of their crimes which makes it all the more difficult to understand.

Great documentaries.

I've seen 'Death Row' being described as "companion pieces" to 'Into The Abyss'. All five films are part of a 2-year project Werner Herzog undertook.

I thought 'Into The Abyss' was incredible. I'm still thinking about it now and then.

I agree. It's because Herzog treats everybody as a person, not a perpetrator, case file, "white trash," or somebody ripe to be exploited for ratings by a TV journalist, that makes the crimes even scarier and harder to comprehend.

Ironically, (in 'Into The Abyss') the person most close to "his own truth" was Jason Burkett's Dad, who was serving the 40-year prison sentence. Most everybody else was in some form of denial.

Can't wait to see the rest!

I have to disagree the part "with the exception of Michael Perry".

28 years old kid who knew he will die 8 days later,It's regular young person's act who
laugh (common mental reaction when human is in fear)sometimes in inappropriate occasion.

I don't know what will I say if I have 8 days to live.(Shortly after losing father)

Hoping my English mistakes make you laugh.
