Nicola Walker - general comment on her role, no spoilers really

Have always been a huge fan of hers since her fab cameo in "Four Weddings and Funeral."

But now she's finally getting the recognition she deserves by winning an Olivier Award. Well done Nicola!

But her recurring performance in season 3 of S&B has been nothing short of spectacular....

Hope she gets a nod for that at the BAFTAS....or somewhere.

I went to a play of hers a couple of years ago and realized the folks were flocking into the seats to see Catherine Tate. But I was there to see Our Nicola and she was wonderful in the play.

Fingers crosses she gets some recognition for her S&B role.

I've been a huge fan of Nicola Walker for many years since Touching Evil and I'm glad she won the Olivier (presented by her old Spooks mate Rupert). I watch anything she's in mainly for her. I'm not a big fan of Scott and Bailey, but, Nicola has stolen the show this year and has me hooked. Her scene stealing performances have beaten the main cast hands down and she has been breath taking. Having played so many different roles this year alone (Inside Men, Heading Out, Last Tango in Halifax, Prisoner's Wives, A Mother's Son), I hope to see her in many more roles

I just watched that episode of Scott and Bailey, and yes; Nicola Walker almost made me cry. She was so good. I've loved her in every performance since Touching Evil. She brings something quiet but intense, and very sincere to the screen. I can't find the right words. She is different from every other actor I've seen.

To which "general public" are these actors unknown? The general public in Upper Volta? (I mean, never mind drama, that Godzilla and her feng shui sofa commercial still slays me!)

Except for a few of the supporting males whose faces are generally familiar, even if I can't come up with the name right away....the female leads are pretty major folks! (And you don't even have to know Corry Street to know Suranne, she's been in some major dramas.)

I agree that Nicola was superb in this series, which I recently caught up, in a similar role to the one she plays in Last Tango in Halifax. I also agree that she was excellent in that play, Season's Greetings. I'm seeing her in A View from the Bridge in a few weeks so I'm sure she'll deliver the goods yet again.

Mind blowing to me that she didn't even score a BAFTA nomination for this part.
She's also great in Last Tango. I understand why Lancashire won in her stead last year but she may have an edge for series 2 and I wouldn't be surprised if she finally won some recognition (nominations are already a pretty good start, I know)

just finished Series 3 and came to write the same thing. She didn't even get a nod? She was really wonderful, I became invested in her sad life as Helen, and only can wonder who got nominated that year. Must have been some great performances to outshine Nicola's.

She is one of my all-time favourites. I search for and download anything with her in it. Then it's usually some serious binge-watching. She, for me, was my favourite actor, male or female, in many years of Spooks (MI-5 in N. America). She is simply as good as it gets!
