Being changed to multi-cam format.

No, this isn't a joke:

I don't watch this show anymore, but I thought those of you who do might find this interesting to say the least...

I was going to post this. I guess this is an effort to help save the show? It's going to be weird with the audience laughter.

That is so weird ...

reply

Well, I'm out. I hate laugh tracks and this show is already a little too 'cbs' as it is.

Yikes, y is NBC doing all it can to keep this POS show alive and forgetting about Community

reply

THIS!

Did you mean to hit reply to me or the original poster?

reply

Yup. 1. Making Maya's character a central character (and sidelining Arnett/the baby) and 2. Dropping Maya's show and some characters (so I hear), and then this one.

I'd also consider it a listing of the show's mistakes.

I'd imagine they'll pair it up with Whitney, the only other multi-cam show NBC currently has. As if the show didn't have enough problems already...

Whitney is paired with Guys with Kids.

I can't think of any other time when a sit-com flipped from single camera to multi-camera.

I think it's only going to hasten the show's demise. It's never been very good anyway (which has always been disappointing), but it's probably going to be completely worthless on a smallish set with a laugh track.

Yeah, switching to a multi-camera format with a laugh track seems like a perfect way to completely ruin this show. NBC seems to be out to ruin every good thing they stumble upon.

The Peacock is no longer interested in single-camera comedies like "The Office" and "Parks and Recreation." With the exception of "Modern Family," single-camera comedies tend to have low ratings.

Seriously? I thought the way comedies were going these days were single-cam and no laugh track. (except the CBS comedies, of course)

reply

Single-cam comedies are cheaper to make, but multi-cam comedies get better ratings.

The Middle and Suburgatory are both doing really well in ratings too.
