Members of the Gay community and their intolerance

I loved this film, and had to look it up afterwards. I stumbled onto IMDB's page and found ignorance and intolerance from many members of my community, the gay community.

There are 2 distinct issues brought about through this film, one deals with sexuality and idenities, the other is about relationship formats.

As a gay polyamorous trans person, to see fellow gay people attack the film for daring to suggest that LGBTQ people do not need to conform to monogamy is a slap in the face for the liberation we fought hard for.

Ethical Non-monogamy whilst not exclusive is more commonly practiced in the LGBTQ community because we strive for liberation, the self-deterination of our community.

Our rights were not fought by 'straight acting' monogomous men, they were fought by radical queers, camp men, drag queens, butch dikes etc- who forced the world to see we exist and we will take our rights not wait for them to be handed to us like scraps off the table.

For this reason, I am so frustrated by those who foget our history and feel that somehow it is bad for members of the community to practice ethical non-monogamy because it reinforces a sterotype that gay people are somehow promiscious.

Well *beep* the status quo, I do not need permission or 'scraps off the table' from straight-cisgendered folk, I will embrace myself for who I am and make no appologies.

I suggest you practice what you preach, if you want acceptance from the world as a gay monogomous person, I demand (not asking, not begging) as a gay trans and poly person!
