Highest Rated Show cancelled this year

Personally if CBS does not want Rob anymore Rob should shop it to other networks. I read the other day, Rob was the highest rated cancelled show. It would be one of the highest rated shows on NBC for example. Too bad it got cancelled before being given a real chance to develop.

and they were sinking. They weren't plummeting, mind you, but it's pretty clear it didn't have a stable audience.

It got cancelled because *YOU* were not watching.

I don't mean that in a wiseass way. You were storing episodes on dvr, other people are finding them through other means like P2P, Hulu or the actual network websites. Some people will just wait to see if it survives, then buy or rent it when it comes out on disc or Itunes.

What I'm saying is that the ratings system for a 21st digital century is severely obsolete.

The advertising system that pays for these shows is ridiculously out of step too. Most people use dvr which allows for skipping commercials. A lot of people download them through P2P torrents with ads edited out. When I look at a new episode for something on Pirate Bay, there will roughly 10,000 people downloading it, with thousands more in the following days and weeks. All these people are not counted in the rating, and not being reached by advertisers.
