Poorest written character

Very, very minor point here but nonetheless a detail that makes the movie worse than it should have been.

The "reporter" that is interviewing Clay (Dennis Quaid) after his book reading. She's asking him fairly standard questions and he has trouble answering because he's so distracted by Olivia Wilde. His answers trail off and he has to go talk to Daniella instead.
EVERY SINGLE reporter who wants to work as a reporter would at least look up to see what is distracting him. She didn't look up once and let him run off to Daniella without caring or wondering why he couldn't finish the interview. At the very least that reporter should have looked up and observed the interaction between Clay and Daniella. And then she could write something about that to complete the incomplete interview.
While I understand the point of that scene is just to show how distracted and curious he is about Daniella. If you're going to introduce a character as a reporter, then that character should act like a reporter. Plain and simple. Especially because that scene is supposed to be simple, it's not like we're going to see that reporter woman again. That's the type of character that should be realistic.
