Just wondering if anyone knows if the guests (meaning people getting tattoos) on this show get any compensation for appearing on the show, do they get a discount on their tattoos or a 'appearance fee' or anything?
I know someone who got the top of his head done by Tommy. They charged him a stupid amount of money for the piece and he hasn't even been on the show yet. I think his segment may have gotten cut.
Big girls were not built to walk the straight and narrow
Geez, I had figured since the tattoos and stories behind them are a big part of the show they'd compensate the people in some way for helping make the show what it is, not rape everyone on price with the promise of potentially being on TV. That's truly upsetting
Nope. You bet your sweet ass they have to pay and they shell out BIG bucks to do it, too. The only sort of 'compensation' anyone who gets to be on this show gets is...to be on the show. Seriously. And not only that but you get *beep* service because you're being thrust into the middle of the tattooed equivilent of "As the World Turns". It's not cheap to be doing tattoos and stuff like that, there's no way in hell they'd ever give it free or, knowing the sorts of people on the show, discounted in anyway. And a good chunk of artists on these types of shows are decent at best, I can only think of maybe two or three from the whole NY/LA/Miami crew I'd ever let touch me with a tattoo gun. The whole thing is quite shameful, really. Not even the art just the way these people are willing to whore out themselves to be on tv.
Well, in the age of Youtube, blogging, etc.. I think it is stupid for for the "average" person to shell out big bucks for a tatoo for the CHANCE to be on tv for 3 minutes on a show with a not-so-big-audience.
That being said, if you are a manager of an up and coming singer, band, actor, etc, etc, etc.. getting a tattoo done at the shop with some BS story (to up the chances of it not being left on the cutting room floor) is a great way to market your client.
Managers and Public Relations people should be sending their clients there. You aren't paying for a tattoo.. you are paying for "advertising" and getting your client on tv.
For the average joe.. save your money and go somewhere else.
200$ per hour is pretty commonplace for a decent artist, not outrageous really. 5 grand, however, is outrageous. Unless she was tattooing somebodies entire back or something. I do understand that people have to pay, but having to pay more than the vast majority of artists (many whom do better work than those clowns) charge...ugh....
i would really like to know how much are people paying for these tattoos :) and what irritates me the most is when someone comes to shop and say: 'I want a bird tattoo' - they say: 'just sit on a couch for a minute and I'll draw something' - and that's it!!! Like it's so simple! and everyone is very satisfied with these drawings :)
