He's one of my favorite actors, he makes any movie good.
Yes, he's is many of the memorable movies. There is so much dreck out there we feel safe when we see his name in the cast.
At the end of Shawshank Redemption he uncovers an old metal box buried by a tree next to a rock fence -- in Belle Isle the children go to a deserted island and uncover a metal box under some rocks and dirt. One film sort of binds you to the other because of Morgan Freeman's appearance in both. I think the writers/directors of both films share that bit of business with him as well.
