Detroit?
So is this Belle Isle Detroit?
sharedon't think so. there's a southern feel in the trailer.
shareIdk what city/state this is supposed to be set for the movie. But this whole movie was shot where I live in Greenwood Lake, NY. I got to check out the set and meet a few people... my friend was working on the movie.. was pretty cool.
shareThis is definitely not the Detroit Belle Isle I grew up with unless it's set in 1945! Oh well, still going to be a great movie!
This message board needs an enema!
i used to go to belle isle all of the time when i was a kid in the late 80s/early nineties...then it got dangerous. the last time we went there we witnessed a couple basically screwing in their car, in plain view of the street, pedestrians...a spare rib bone floated by me in the water. have you ever seen scarecrow with gene hackmen and al pacino. definite belle isle footage...such a great film!
shareI was wondering too - they make references to the city (i.e. New York - Manhattan) ....but there doesn't seem to be a Belle Island anywhere around New York.
Thoughts?
As another poster pointed out, the movie was filmed in Greenwood Lake, NY. Although it's been a long time, I recognized every scene as I born and lived there for my first thirty years. Interesting to note is, it is local common speak to refer to NYC as "the city" in these parts.
sharethere is a Belle Isle in Richmond VA

More often than not, names of towns in fictional films are also fictional so any resemblance to a real name would be coincidental. Although the film was shot in Greenwood Lake, N.Y., the location could be any lakeside community. When the characters refer to "the city" it is presumed to be N.Y.C. because Finn tells Monte she used to live in Manhattan.
Excuse me for talking while you're interrupting.
Although shot in New York state I had a feeling it was a stand in for a southern location along the eastern seaboard.
I thought the same thing, having lived in Detroit. But, it's a coincidence and is not remotely similar to the wonderful Belle Isle of Detroit, Michigan.
