Yeah my first thought was how a bunch of parents watched a crazy old man firing and threatening a man with a pistol but no one called the cops.

Maybe they had seen "Shakes the Clown." Lots of kids are terrified of clowns. I remember a bit on "America's Funniest home videos." A clown leaped into a bouncy tent full of little kids. they all began diving out of the opening tumbling over each other to get away. A lot of people go beyond not liking them to actually hating them. Shia Lebeau said his parents were clowns and fought like dogs making his childhood a living hell.

I found the whole scene believable. They were clearly a close-knit neighborhood and the clown was obnoxious from the onset. Freeman's character probably would have decked him or at least threatened him, if he was physically able to do so. So, it is certainly plausible and feasible that he would have to resort to some other form of intimidation of such a crass, annoying and over-the-top insulting guy.

Hey folks,

Monte may have really simply fired a blank, and it may not have been a "firearm" at all according to federal regulations. The whole idea of his "discharging a firearm" may have simply been in the eyes of the beholder - much as the magic show the clown was supposed to perform.

Was the gun in his hand a real firearm? Was the report from the gun made by a real cartridge or from a blank? It would seem the only one there who cared was the clown who was ruining things for all the others. Maybe it was good to get rid of the clown and all the nasty feelings he brought to the party.

The clown was a complete jerk. Telling the Mom he was leaving earlier, yelling at Carl and her Daughter, making inappropriate comments about the Mother, etc. The tight-fit community had no problem saying good riddance to him and moving on to their cake.

So, the bouncy house was the clowns? Wouldn't he have to come back for all his stuff? If I were the clown I would have brought an officer with me and asked to have charges made. I was not cool with all the gunplay around an event like that. Jerk clown or not.

The clown scene was both cute and (once he spoke) predictable..

What drove me crazy was when the clown said he had leave soon.... I've been in cust. svc. for 3-decades and even the most trivial contract would have listed the start/finish times or number of hours!
