The whole 'Beef Jerky' interaction with Cowboy Curtis...

Just saw the show on HBO... Loved it. I've always been a fan of Pee Wee. I'm actually glad he kept it simple and followed a similar storyline as the original stage show. He referenced all his famous lines and jokes - Looking at the audience, this was a good idea, seeing as they were all relatively young, people who probably grew up with the TV show. I also thought it was classy to not replace Captain Carl/Phil Hartman with another actor.

Anyway, enough rambling. Here's my question:

I know I'm not quoting this line verbatim, maybe someone who has it on DVR could transcribe the exact line...

Does anyone think the "My doctor said I should lay off the beef jerky" line is a veiled reference to his, er, "incident" where he "jerked his beef" in a theater? That was the first thought I had, and thought it was pretty funny of him to subtly work it in to the show.

Maybe I'm reading too much in to it. Thoughts?

No, I don't think so...

I know you are, but what am I?

"jerked his beef" ...lol... that's a new one..

I think the statement means that the Doctor did not want Pee Wee to eat so much beef Jerky.

I think it's just an excuse Pee-wee came up with to not take the jerky.

He does reference 'the incident' in the show, though, with the Abstinince Ring scene. ("I don't need yucky girls and stuff as long as I have THIS!" Waves hand)
