gap between ME2 and ME3

I didn't understand exactly what happened between ME2 and ME3.
So Sheppard saves the galaxy against the Collectors and then get arrested?
Can anyone help me with this?

reply

Shepard allied with Cerberus, which is pretty much Treason, hence the arrest.

reply

If you played Arrival it's because of the events in that, otherwise it's the Cerberus link. If Spectre status was restored I think we have to assume that it's voluntary arrested. Was Shepard still nominally in the Alliance military at that point? Might not've is (s)he was declared dead, I doubt that many laws and rules have clauses about coming back from the grave.

reply

The political problem with ME2 is that most people have never even heard of the Collectors, and those that have think they're just a myth.

Not to mention most of Shepard's actions (aside from appearing on the citadel a couple of times) are done in secret, or where people wouldn't be around to witness them. Ie, who was there to see the Collector base attacks? True, Shepard can make reports about what happened and tell the general public, but considering how the Council completely ignored their greatest saviour, imploring them to prepare for the reapers... who would the majority believe? Their own governments, or some covert operative who does all sorts of shady things?

I remember the days when Kardashians were just the bad guys on Star Trek!

reply

The Collectors aren't quite that much of a mystery, James Vega has his story about fighting them, presumably as part of the Alliance.

reply

Watch his movie: Paragon Lost. He only finds out about them thanks to a Cerberus spy on planet when they attack. Of course afterwards, he hears all about Shepard's adventures with them that renders all his hard work/sacrifice moot. (Which must kinda suck!)
