Let the cliches begin...

I've loved Amanda Peet for many years, so I was excited to see that she was on a new TV series. And you can never go wrong with Jeffrey Tambor. They also had the good sense to bring JB Smoove from "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and Jesse Plemons from "Friday Night Lights" on board. But all of these actors deserve so much better than this predictable tripe. Let's see...David Walton plays a young, handsome, smug, self-assured rogue with a 3-day stubble who's also a bad boy who manages to bed every girl he sees. Every girl (except Peet's character...for now) thinks he's the cutest, most charming hunk they've ever seen. All these women (his ex, Peet's friends) come off as idiots who want sex all the time and will jump into bed at a moment's notice. And of course, Peet's young daughter is drawn to Walton who is using her as a stepping stone to bedding Peet. And let's not forget Peet's boring, uncharismatic, white bread boyfriend who doesn't even want to have sex with her because he's such a good guy. Hmmm...I wonder who Peet will sleep with first...? These first 2 episodes looked like something out of television comedy screenwriting 101. I kept waiting for at least one original idea, but it never came. Only Tambor as a desperate out-of-work actor and made me laugh (how about a show about his character instead?). NBC just keeps digging its own grave deeper and deeper.

NBC has really tried to kill this show. No Real Big Promotion for a show that will be finished over 3 weeks. Yet this has got a lot good critical reviews because clearly they see it has promise to grow. That were not given to it's other freshmen comedies such as Whitney and Are You There Chelsea. This nothing original Just better executed than all of NBC comedies. NBC has gone from the cream of the crop to one the untrustworthy brands of the last decades over really stupid decision like this.

Pete a contractor, ex-Gambling addict, Arrested Adolescent, and Yes a Womanizer. One particular Scene when Pete is trying to comfort his father ego in episode 2 that drives him to drink couple beer afterward and show up Alex daughter Baseball Game Drunk. Clearly he had to be there for his father but never had the same attention in return. Yeah this show may have cliches but it also has some serious depth that would be great to explore in a season 2 sampling.

I agree with you completely. I like Amanda Peet and I LOVED David Walton on "Perfect Couples" (which was 1,000 times funnier and more original than this show) so I'm giving "Bent" a chance. But so far, I see very little originality.

Judging from the other comments here, I seem to be alone in finding the character of Charlie extremely annoying. First off, Amanda Peet seems to have ZERO chemistry with her onscreen daughter. Perhaps that will change in future episodes but up to now, it seems more like the character of Screwsie is Charlie's mom! As for the young actress playing Charlie - she looks 13, not 10, and while she is an adorable young girl I don't know what they're doing with her hair (!) or the predictable lines. I feel like they are shooting for a younger version of Rory Gilmore but where that character (Gilmore Girls) was precocious in an endearing, smart way...Charlie's just annoying. She's too world-weary to be so sweet. It's not believable at all. Look at the kids on "Modern Family" as another example...those are written like REAL children/preteens.
