A title that will not translate well across the Pond.

Oh dear me, I hope the creators are not hoping to sell this to the UK, where 'bent' is a very insulting term for gay men and women (as playgoers who have seen "Bent", Martin Sherman's astounding play about gay men in Hitler's concentration camps, will also know... although the film of that play is worth seeing chiefly for Mick Jagger's performance as a drag queen). Better luck next time guys. Although now I've raised the topic, it is depressing to see Los Angeles represented as an LGBT-free zone. Which, in my experience as a long term resident, is hardly the case).

The show was all but cancelled when you typed this, they aren't going to sell this in the UK.

I assume your comment about LA being an LGBT-free zone refers to the fact that you see the name as offensive, if that is the case then you are mistaken. A show created in the US, filmed with actors who live in Hollywood (I don't want to say they are all Americans because there are quite a few actors from Canada nowadays), and then subsequently was aired in the US first is not going to be thinking about if the name is offensive in another country.

If you were insinuating that a show should have at least 1 gay character in it or else its not an accurate illustration of real life you are also mistaken. Let's ignore the fact that the first (and sadly only) season was only 6 episodes long (and thus was not long enough to bring in minor characters). Not everyone has a gay friend, hell not everyone has a gay acquaintance, considering the show barely had any characters outside the main group (we didn't meet a neighbor until the 6th episode), it's perfectly normal for there to have been no LGBT characters in the show.

"Bent" is also a surname over this 'side of the pond' too, although Im sure they dont see their names as only an offensive word.

But seeing as this show revolves around gay characters I can see how you're connecting the dots.

I'm from "across the pond" and 'bent' can also mean corrupt/dishonest - for example a "bent copper" is a corrupt police officer.
