How on earth did he learn the mechanics so fast? Throwing hard is a natural skill/ability... but learning to play baseball takes years of training.

I'll suspend my belief and say it was still worth watching on a rainy netflix day. Not a great movie... but it's a good watch.

You're forgetting that he had natural talent. He'd been practicing on the farm probably everyday. And he just needed Murph's help to hone his skills.
