Was anyone else rooting for the Villain ?

Usually I dont root for the bad guy in movies unless its like Halloween or Friday the 13th but felt those people drove Felix off the edge, so i didnt feel for them earlier on

reply

Yeah...and even more so after the end. God...baddest person, the only one that should have died survives. Cmon ! WTF is this crap ?

reply

the ending REALLY pissed me off. i was enjoying it until that point. they were a bunch of *beep* & they should have all died.

reply

Indeed she should be killed, slowly and painfully. I hate how in Hollywood bullies always win, and if they don't win they just say they are sorry and changed and all that crap.

I gave it 1/10 just for that stupid ending.

reply

It's not exactly hollywood, this is a British film. In hollywood the blonde girl would have been the heroin, she would escape and save the day, so i was very surprise when she was killed in the manor.

This is very far from hollywood i think , as the whore of the film is (actually the hero)survives and kills the villain. But I think she herself is a villain, as she was the one threatening to blackmail Felix.
Very unusual ending.

reply

j-pohsub, yes. I found the ending (and most of the movie) to be a refreshing detachment from 'hollywood' type movies.

reply

I felt that the blonde girl should not have been seeked for revenge

Un dia voy pa arriba y nada me importa el dia en que muera yo

reply

Yeah. I s going to say, usually the hollywood ending would have the good girl surviving.

This film was more a case of an even greater evil triumphing over evil.

I give you 1/10 just for that STUPID post coming from a supposed nonamerican talking about a BRITISH movie.

Funny to see how the public is brainwashed into loving the good characters and hating the bad ones. I hope the filmakers find it as funny as me how they succeed into pissing people off just by not giving them the stereotyped ending they are used to. I like the film even more now I have read theses posts !

reply

MrBelette you sound like a complete douche.
Yes, people root for the good guys because we have been brainwashed..........that is quite possibly the most moronic thing I've read on IMDB in the last month.

reply

Nah I wasn't rooting for the villian, there was no need to torture & kill them like that when most of them did not even really do anything wrong & definitely didn't expect him to hang himself over what happened at the party. And then it turned out that it wasn't anything to do with Gemma rejecting him or Chris punching him...he was scared of what his brother would do if he found out about him sucking another man off; his brother was clearly a psycho. Though I did understand him wanting to know what happened to his brother, I didn't think it was right to torture the whole lot of them when most of them didn't do anything wrong.

***Spoilers, Spoilers, Spoilers***My thought is that the perceived villain was not the true villain. In my opinion, Paul was unwittingly a pawn and Gemma and Felix were the victims. This is my reasons: Eleanor's spite, selfishness, jealously, and manipulations were the root of everything that went wrong. She was the worst of everyone and is in no way a Femme Fatale by any means. She was spoiled, cowardly, and backstabbing. What she did to Paul was in essence coerced rape, she was the first person to throw blame on Chris, she murdered Luke, and was malicious to Felix. Chris was a bully through and through. He especially made that clear when he said that he always wants to punch everyone. His one decent moment was when he tried in vain to sacrifice himself at the last minute to save everyone else. Yes, Luke appeared to be decent at first by trying to "help" Felix, but he revealed his true self when he 1.) sent Felix that awful postcard out of jealousy 2.) didn't reveal himself as the sender to save anyone 3.) chose saving his life over everyone else and decided to become an accomplice to murder as well as pretending to be innocent to Justin and 4.) murdered Jonesy...no matter how much it was deserved for stupidity. The biggest mistake that Paul, Gemma, and Felix made was believing that Eleanor, Luke, and Chris were friends or even remotely decent people.

After hearing Justin's character history, he did not seem to be as much of a villain. He was more of a sociopath than a psychopath, but he did seem to genuinely love his brother, because he said that he stayed by his bedside and setup the whole justice revenge scheme. He was admittedly prideful, but he looked hurt when he saw everything that his brother went through: the drugs Luke confided that he sold him, being manipulated into sex with Paul by Eleanor, and subsequently being blackmailed by Eleanor and getting that postcard from Luke as a reminder. I thought it was awful when Gemma called Felix a loser, but she totally redeemed herself in her moving speech about how Felix could've talked to her and she would've been there for him. She was the only genuine person out of that set of so called friends. The moral that I took from the story was the only justification of the ending: Be careful who you trust and call your friends.***Spoilers, Spoilers, Spoilers***

I agree with your view of them, except I don't think Justin cared so much about Felix as he cared about the shame he brings to his name. He seemed more disgusted/shocked at the end when Eleanor tells her story and he sees the video then empathetic to Felix.

I also think that while Chris was a jerk, he was not that bad. He is aggressive but his group should have tamed him down right away. He was more upset about Felix trying something with Gemma, which actually means he saw him as he would see a guy who might be a threat rather then that he just wanted to bully him. Other characters assume much more superiority towards Felix then he does. Otherwise, he tried to save his group and I think he was not a bad person.

Luke just acted really bizarrely because I couldn't see a good reason for him not to help everyone, shoot Justin when he had a chance... his actions are completely confusing to me. I also don't see why the police would blame him for the murder if everyone testifies that he was forced to do it or something like that.

Gemma was the nice one, but I found her to be extremely patronizing to Felix and didn't like her. Ok, he asked her out which was pretty dumb since she had a boyfriend, but did she really have to give a whole speech about how he will find someone and act so horribly superior? She could have just said she is with Chris. Obviously, this is no reason to kill her, I am just saying she is not that great in my eyes.

I feel the most sorry for Felix I guess, and Paul was ok too. Eleanor was completely horrible, but I appreciate that she survived. It is refreshing, since otherwise we would just assume it had to be Gemma.

reply

Yes, I was annoyed 2 out of 5 made it out alive. I'd rather have the badass army brother annihilate them

[DATA EXPUNGED]

reply

I was until he killed Gemma. She was really the most innocent out of the bunch.

reply

Wrong. Gemma was the worst. At least all the other bullies were straight up and honest about them not liking Felix. Gemma was a complete two-faced phony!
