**SPOILER** The Ending
I seem to be the only one who did not see the ending being his suicide. Am I the only one who saw this differently? He finally decided to get on with his life and truly let his late wife go, to not live in the past, that's why he moves out of their apartment. He wanted to give the house to Pauline anyway, and he said goodbye to her because he wanted to see her and his son together romantically, the way he couldn't be because of the age gap and his feelings for his late wife, she was his last love but Pauline was the one who showed him he could still enjoy life. He didn't want to stand in the way of her ending up with his son, he tells his son not to let her go. He was happy when he told his son to tell Pauline that he figured it out, he wouldn't be saying that if he was committing suicide. He had originally told her that a person doesn't figure out their life until it's over, he figured out his life before it was over and he wanted her to know that, to know that he was happy, not that he was offing himself! He also reassured his son that he knew he was not left with nothing. Double negative there but that's how they say it too. Okay, he did not commit suicide, he figured out how to be happy on his own.
