'Places. Places we've been.'

I feel like I missed a line here or something...

**SPOILERS**

This line, right before Beverly dies. What is it's meaning? I had to listen to it three times, and then turn on subtitles to know WHAT she was saying, first off. Is it some reference to what he briefly mentioned earlier about listing things to slow her heart rate down? Feels kind of random to be someone's ~dying words, in such a romantic movie.

Anyhow, can someone confirm, or tell me what this line means?

I believe she was trying to start listing things to slow her heart down because her heart started beating too fast from the poison that Pearly had that guy slip into her drink while she and Peter were dancing. The poison sped up her heart until it gave out.

Hope that helps!

Exactly. She started the little trick he showed her, to slow the heart rate but the poison was too much.

I think that she was referencing their being soul mates who have traveled through time together.

(Spoilers) at the end, we realize what Beverly's true purpose was in that lifetime--to help lead Peter to the little girl. In the end, he becomes a star...with Beverly. They were always together. That's why they show the 2 stars twinkling together. This is why the defining conversation of their relationship was about stars (her listing the names), because she was telling him that that was what they would become together without telling him. It's like soul-talk. It's like a he didn't realize it was going to happen, until it happened, but then when it happened, he said "oh, I get it" type of thing.

This movie has a way of making prophetic references to things that are going to happen/that have happened. It seems that the past, present, and future are simultaneously occurring. I love this aspect of the movie. It's trying to describe the happenings of creation/the universe, really.
