How would it end if ABC didn't cancel?

Would they drag out another season of ridiculous crap?

Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by rulers as useful.

They just ran out of story to tell.

The ratings could've been very good but the show was gonna get canceled anyway cause they hit a dead end in terms of storyline.

reply

Oh no, ABC doesn't *really* care about shows ending at their creative peaks - there's so many shows that keep going past that point because they're still getting ratings and raking in the money and that's what ABC cares about, despite what they like to tell the press.

In February the writers said that they had two outlines for the final few episodes of the show - one if they thought they were heading to cancellationville (which, by all accounts, is what we got) and another if they thought they were getting renewed. Since ABC didn't tell them outright that they were cancelled before filming the episodes, they threw in the little Nolan cliffhanger.

What their full-on plan would've been for the other scenario we will never know unless the writers come out and say it.

reply

They should have stuck to the original plan of a different revenge story every season.

reply

No, they would have kept the same story ending but Nolan and the young guy at the end would have taken the lead roles. Jack and Emily would be background characters.

reply

I could imagine the 5th season being a creative revamp with Nolan taking over Amanda role as the new master of revenge mentoring the new young kid. Jack and Amanda return for guest spit's particularly episode 100 and the finale.

reply

Only if they turned the story over to a new revenge seeker. Nolan could have helped the new blood.

reply

I could see the kid seen in the finale being the new Amanda Clark while Nolan becomes mentor.

A perfect number of seasons to complete a complex and riveting story. Perfect as a 4 season story.

Swing away, Merrill....Merrill, swing away...

reply

I'm glad they had an ending at least.

I invested a whole season in Ringer, which was excellent until the last episode of the season...and what a stupid way to end a show, by leaving you hanging like that.

My guess is that they would "REVEAL" that EVERYONE who died already was STILL ALIVE!! They would continue to return in an endless parade of "clever zombies". They would all of course be killed again, but only a few of them would stay dead.
David would have gone into remission long enough to get back together with his first wife....who of course would go off of her meds and drown David. Emandily would lose her shjt and kill her mother....only to realize that her father had a "mini scuba kit" hidden by a buoy and survived the attack. Amelanda would then call her exiled friend Ashley Hawthorne, and demand that she take the fall for the murder. A motive story would be concocted, "REVEALING" that Sara Clarke was actually Ashley Hawthorne's mother, and that she murdered her for not sharing the new found wealth she gained when she reunited with David.
The Initiative would send another operative out to kill Ashley Hawthorne in retaliation, because Sara Clarke was a secret agent of theirs!! Nolan would continue to hump every single man and woman that he met, until finally dying....from AIDS. This would throw Amandily into a crippling depression....culminating in her suicide. Only to find that Nolan FAKED HIS DEATH to avoid responsibility for knocking up a socialite's underage daughter!
Unable to live with his role in Emilanda's suicide, he joins a monastery and swears off sex forever, never to be heard from again. UNTIL Amilda "REVEALS" that she faked her suicide to avoid Jack, because he was becoming a clingy little woman. Nolan is infuriated because he really enjoyed humping every walking human he could find, so he comes back to the Hamptons to give Amildany a piece of his mind!
Unfortunately, he never makes it back, because the socialite's underage daughter that he knocked up was ACTUALLY Malcom Black's OTHER daughter, seeking revenge for Nolan's role in her father's murder! Just as she's about to finish Nolan off, she is BEHEADED by none other than....PATRICK....who whisks Nolan off to the Bahamas, where they hump themselves into oblivion.
For the season finale, MargoX is sitting in her prison cell, serving her sentence for her involvement with WHITE GOLD, when she's approached by a fellow inmate, and told that Daniel Grayson FAKED HIS DEATH to avoid her terrible hair! Overwhelmed by rage, she contacts Eminda, begging to borrow her escape plan so she can make Daniel PAY!! Louise tries to smuggle the information in to her, but is caught by.....LYDIA....who was in the same prison for murdering.....MASON TREADWELL!! Still convinced that Emily Thorne is Amanda Clarke (because she wasn't paying attention during the "REVEAL"), she blackmails Louise into killing....CHARLOTTE GRAYSON.....because once CONRAD GRAYSON found out he wasn't Charlotte's biological father, they ran off together to MEXICO, leaving Lydia to rot in prison!
Crushed with grief, Louise goes home to prepare for her trip to MEXICO, when she's suddenly....ATTACKED....by.....her brother....LYMAN ELLIS....who "REVEALS" that he is....IN LOVE.....with....TYLER....who faked his death to avoid ASHLEY'S terrible accent!!!
In the final scene, the picture begins to get wavy and hazy, and we pan out to see....VICTORIA GRAYSON waking in Grayson Manor!! She turns to find herself lying next to.....AIDON MATHIS!!! She exclaims...."I just had the CRAZIEST DREAM Dear!!" He replies, "Go back to sleep AMANDA."!!!!
Roll credits......THE END.

I don't think it was crap (thank you) and I think if they hadn't brought back Emily's Father the show could have easily lasted for another 2 or 3 seasons 'cause most people I knew that loved Revenge thought that was a huge mistake and destroyed the entire premise of the show.

Aside from that I loved Revenge and still miss it now.😞

Crap actors/actresses, storyline only needed 1 season. Dragging it on for 4 season made it very boring and tiresome to watch.

I agree that this show became frustrating in the middle of a lot of seasons. because it was a 'weekly show' however re watching this whole thing against from start to finish 2 or 3 episodes a day it is a much better show to 'binge' what lost me towards the end was the frustration of season 4. bit like lost to many episodes per season to frustrate you and lose interest in it not moving forward. it's a show that would do great on Netflix having all 22 episodes up for a season day 1 then dragging it out for 6 months. in a serialized show this is not easy to do. the funny thing is it didn't start that serialized the first 7 episodes were more of a episodic type thing where she was taking down a different person each week. at that point I remember thinking are we watching a episodic series here? but then that changed/. it was funny to see in late season 4 the montage of all those take downs on the early episodes.

the David Clarke coming back and taking FOREVER. to reunite with Emily that was ridiculously stretched out. and I completely gave up with about 5 episodes left and never actually finish it... until 4 years later would you believe.. I got sick of the Jack and Emily not getting together dragging out... eventually it did with 10 mins to go. but that was dragged way to far as well.
