No 35mm film this time...they shot this on the Red Epic unfortunately...very disappointing.

I don't see why. Red Epic Dragon surpasses 35mm film in some aspects and is quite comparable in the others.

Except the one aspect that is not comparable is also the most important: Dynamic Range.

Yes Red Epic Dragon has very high resolution but that does not trump rich color. Is anyone really going to be viewing the movie in 5K?

Film has about 14-15 stops dynmaic range, Dragon has >= 16. Nobody sees the movie in 5K. It's not a distribution format. 4K is.

I can't post the link but...Google:

'Red's Dragon 35mm No Film School' and you'll see how poor the Dragon looks next to Kodak 35mm.

They've released 2 trailers and the image looks nothing like film - it's washed out and colors look blah.

Red Epic fail.

Film for the win. Alexa comes in close second. Red's color science sucks.

just saw it in a huuuuge 2k cinema.

It looked great.

After seeing the trailer with its 'digital look' I was afraid, too, but it looks different in a cinema.

I was no fan of RED aesthetics in the past, but they improved.

Honestly, in 95% of the scenes it looked like 35mm.

In 4k it even looks better, I guess.
