Bell of Arabia

This film should really be called "Bell of Arabia" because all the exploits shown in the film "Lawrence of Arabia" were actually performed by both Lawrence AND Bell (despite her being given no mention whatsoever in that film !). In fact, it could be argued that Bell contributed much more than Lawrence.

I hope that this film does her legacy justice and is at the same level as "Lawrence of Arabia".

Bell was a self absorbed dilettante who did little to nothing of note. That there is a highly fictionalized film now out does not change actual history.

She fell in love with the most misogynist culture in the world and made a general a55 out of herself

His comment wasn't about Kidman!

She seemed to have led a fascinating and influential life according to her Wikipedia article, which is all I have to go on.
Where do YOU get the impression she was a 'self-absorbed dilettante who did little or nothing of note"?
I'm genuinely curious to hear The Truth from a noted Mid-East scholar, please elaborate.

Stopped reading there.

Which makes you a bit of a twit! You should have read the next few words to fully appreciate the response. And I take it, you rely on original sources only to get your 'historical' information. Pretentious, really.

i wonder if you know that you carry an arab name, but still you know nothing about arabs, as much as the stupid director of this movie so shut up

reply

The film does seem impossible to watch without thinking of Lawrence. The ode is affectionate, but that score is a bit too close to the mark.
