Texier's scar

I kept waiting for someone to explain the big scar on young Lebrac's cheek, thinking it was a makeup job for the film. Then I went to the French version of Wikipedia, but all the article on Jean Texier said was that it was the scar that got him the part. No indication of how he got it. In the series of photos with the article it looks like the poor kid has had it for some time. I hope it doesn't type-cast him the way it did the American actor George Macready in the 1940's and 1950's He had a horrible scar on his right cheek, and all they ever gave him were parts where he played suave British-sounding villains.
