Movies or TV Series that influenced 13 Reasons Why?

I don't know why but the tapes, the poster reminds me a little of Francis Ford Coppola's The Conversation.

Also the flashbacks in a warmer color and present scenes in a colder tone remind me of an X-Files episode where Scully found out she was pregnant titled "Per Manum" from Season 8.

Other movies / tv series that you feel influenced this series? Thanks in advance.

I agree about The Conversation. It is originally a book though. So I guess the director could've been influenced on top of the Author.
