Why does Trishna addrerss the men as 'Sir?'

Why does Trishna addrerss the men as "Sir?" She does this even when she's not at work. They seem to be about the same age, so i don't understand. Is that how all women are expected to treat men in Indian society? Can anyone shed some light on this apparent social custom?

Unfortunately "Indian Society" is not a term that can be generalized. In the movie, Trishna hails from rural Rajasthan, where women from lower castes usually address men who are upper caste/elderly/strangers/financially well-off as "Sahabji", which means "Sir" in English. Rural Rajasthan is one of the most backward communities in India. This is, however, not how women are "expected" to treat men in Modern India.
