Robin Mihara (Possible Major Spoilers)

Just finished this movie and it's actually got me right back into Tetris. Really enjoyed the cast of characters and what Tetris means/meant to them during their hardcore gaming days. Highly recommended.

Did it seem to anyone else that Robin was a little too preoccupied with getting Thor to prove himself? Like maybe he hadn't let the past go? I thought Thor came across in a really humble way.

I was really hoping Thor would deliver in the end. I won't go into any more detail re if he did/didn't.

Like I said - great doco.

I really enjoyed this documentary too. I didn't like the kid Thor but when he shared all he and his family had been through it got me rooting for him.

Robin might have been a bit preoccupied with Thor but partly because Thor wasn't documenting his scores like the others had been, and after all, Thor was the one that had the most to lose.

I honestly didn't feel that Robin was too preoccupied with Thor proving his skills by documentation, I think he just wanted to see it because he knew how good Thor was and it's almost like he didn't want anyone questioning Thor's accomplishments, like Robin was trying to protect Thor from naysayers. Robin came off as very humble and likable. The most obnoxious guy was Ben (I think that was his name, with the glasses), not that he was an unlikable guy but I don't know how long I'd be able to be in the same room as him. Jonas was hands down the most humble guy, almost like a wunderkind. Harry Hong definitely took the whole thing a little too serious.

I believe that anyone that comes close to being the best in the world, only to have all his hard work ripped from him, has earned the right to question this so-called level 30 man, to prove himself.

Honestly though, I am preeeettttty sure Robin believed everything Thor claimed. He just felt the gravity of what that claim meant, so he was talking about it a lot. Also, keep in mind the whole movie kind of pivoted around that claim, so out of the hundreds of hours of footage (I assume) the crew shot, it makes sense that a lot of those lines were included in the final cut.

In the end, I suppose only Robin knows for sure.

I agree, I played Tetris right after, these players have so much enthusiasm and intensity for the game I have a lot of respect for that.

The thing about Thor is he was THE gamer back in the day, that kid was the Nintendo World Champion. To see him back 20 years later must've been fascinating for Robin, I know I would be if someone I knew a long time ago who was a master came back to prove himself.
