Don't Knock It til You've Tried It

I've "couponed" to the extreme at a local Walmart and while it isn't easy, it is possible. Keep in mind that Walmart DOES NOT double or triple coupons, they do price match and accept competitor coupons. The most I have ever done was buying $600 worth of goods and paid $30.00. Just as an example; another local grocer had pasta on sale for 1.00 and I had 50 coupons for 1.00 off this brand of pasta. Yep. I got 50 boxes for free. I kept 10, gave my sister 10 and donated the rest to a local food bank. Another example; Walmart had Aussie shampoo and conditioners on Clearance for 1.00 each. I had 50 coupons for $3 off any 2 Aussies so I made 1.00 for ever 2 I bought. A cool $50 to put towards meat and fresh veggies which I had no coupons for. Get it? I kept a few bottles, gave some to friends and donated the rest. So, there you have it. I do not ever drive far to do my "extreme couponing". I donate to local food banks regularly. I have never been "Dumpster Diving" as I have friends and neighbors save coupons for me and I buy 10 newspapers every week. This is a fun hobby for me and for a lot of other people and we save big bucks. Seems like those who ridicule are just jealous. No need! There are enough deals for all of us. Start clipping today!

I can certainly appreciate a good deal, and I say more power to you. While watching this show, though, I have a few questions. Many of these people mostly buy processed food, pet food, paper goods, and toxic cleaning products (barely any fruits or vegetables). What are some of the meals that are being made with these products? And are you really saving money, when half the products being bought are not edible/or products that you can't use, and money is being spent on newspapers for coupons in some cases?

I am primarily interested in what foods are being prepared/cooked.

Honestly, I would rather pay my local grocery or farmer's market full price. Walmart's produce is usually awful, and their shampoos aren't that great either. Plus, the time it takes to organize all this is unreasonable. Hunting through the paper for coupons I would actually use would take too much time. I haven't bought a newspaper in ten years. It's just not practical for most people.

I cant see myself ever being able to do the extreme couponing thats not for people with jobs if you ask me. I mean those people get way too much junk that nobody needs Im not talking junk food I just mean crap like who needs 60 bottles of mustard? Even if its free why? It does however make me want to price match and and print up some internet coupons for stuff I do want. I might not get it all for free but I could get more for my money.

I'd rather spend my time at the bar instead of couponing. Most of my drinks are drinks are comped. When I am charged for a drink I am charged for a soda instead. So I guess that might considered couponing without the effort and a lot more fun. Or do tips I leave cancel it out. Doesn't matter still worth it.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.
