Lifetime Cancels 'Against the Wall'

Lifetime has decided not to order a second season of Against the Wall.

Cast member Brandon Quinn tweeted the news late Friday evening, writing, "I'd like to thank @lifetimetv, the #AgainsttheWall writers and the Amazing fans of Against The Wall but unfortunately we've been canceled :(."

The writers addressed the news shortly thereafter, writing on their Twitter account, "guessing many of you saw @BrandonJQuinn's tweet -- just found out we won't be coming back for a second season."

Starring Rachael Carpani as a Chicago cop who joins the internal affairs division, the procedural debuted in July to underwhelming numbers, drawing 1.8 million total viewers to its premiere episode following Drop Dead Diva.

THR's television critic Tim Goodman gave a positive review of the hourlong series: "Breakout star Rachael Carpani and ambitious creators could vault this procedural above the pack."

The Universal Cable Prods. series was created by Annie Brummer and co-stars Quinn, Andrew Walker, Marisa Ramirez, Kathy Baker, Treat Williams and Chris Johnson.

The decision comes at a time when Lifetime is investing in remakes with core audiences like Steel Magnolias and The Blue Lagoon, with high-profile names attached. The female-skewing cable net has also given pilot orders to Modern Love by Jenny Bicks and American Housewife with Melanie Griffith, and has picked up The Client List with Jennifer Love Hewitt to series.

Lifetime is dead to me now.

Guess we'll never know who was on the other side of that door...Sad I was actually liking the show alot.

Let's see the show original, well acted, well written, interesting and did fairly well in a crappy time slot. All reasons to cancel it. I wonder why they did cancel it? With some of the crap that is on TV it is always disappointing when a good show bites the dust Maybe another cable channel will pick it up? Hopefully, but unlikely.

reply

That sucks! I really liked this show.

i guess we'll never see who was on the other side of that door now..

i forgot that's how it ended...i hate that the worse of all, when you get a cliff hanger, it's bad enough that you have to wait months to find out what it's all about, how it's going to be resolved...but when the show is cancelled ater a cliff hanger like that....now that's what i call them so not caring.......and throwing it in your face.......

Welp I guess I'm back to not watching Lifetime. Even though I'm a woman I really can't stand this channel (same crap just with different people since I was little) and this show was the only thing I watched on it. Now I will go back to passing this channel by.

i know it had a crap time slot thats part of the reason I am behind a little now that it is canceled Im not sure I want to catch up anymore and from comments im reading ill be left with a cliffhanger. Is it worth finishing season one or should I just leave it alone.

reply

Geeze, I was really hoping they would renew it. In fact I'd just gone to look to see when the next season started and discovered it was canceled. Such a shame, because it was a good program with an interesting concept. I guess since it was already on one of the cable channels it'd be unlikely to be picked up by another one (vs how they sometimes pick up rejects from the big networks). I'm NOT impressed by Lifetime's new direction <sigh>.

Seriously?
No, seriously??????

reply

i'm sorry, but why do we have to have a remake of stelle magnolias, something of which i've never wanted to see in the first place...

and i'm sorry but i can't stand melanie in anything that she's ever done......

i don't get the station, so i really shouldn't complain..but sometimes we do get a series or two, thrown as a bone our way.....

and if you ask me, this was a great one....so to not go with it, but to keep on trying something new, i'm sorry is just plained out dumb...if you ask me..

i have wanted lifetime in the past to come over to canada, but now i'm wondering even if the station did come here, would it be worth it....i say not..

I'm really sad the show has been cancelled. I was looking forward to seeing who was on the other side of that door!

And a Lifetime remake of Steel Magnolias is just a BAD IDEA. I shudder at the thought of how cheesy and awful it would be. This is coming from someone who liked the original very much, btw. I just don't want to see Lifetime ruin it.

I really enjoyed Against the Wall and was so looking forward to Season Two. Big mistake on the part of Lifetime, as the show was getting better with each episode. So disappointed a decent drama has been cancelled.

reply

Lifetime never gives decent shows time to develope & give fans time to get hooked. Or the networks make stupid changes that ruin the show such as Fairly Legal. 1st season was ok but when they added another stupid male charactor I instantly hated I'm sure other felt the same way.

USA left us hanging with who Cary's baby daddy is in Pacific Blue.

Can't believe they cancelled this really good show and are moving forward with "The Client List". I like JL Hewitt but thought the movie stunk.

noooooooo, i'm bummed! Do any of the writers have a twitter? I want to know who was going to be behind the door!!
