Very good sci-fi psychological drama

Like a realistic Splice or a toned-down Cronenberg - both the father (Rabid, The Brood) and the son (Antiviral).

Also, the setting and atmosphere of academic science is very close to reality in its 'incestuous' and competitive aspects. The only other film that I can think of that capture it that well is the indie rom com Losing Control.
