Boring waste of time.

I read really good reviews for this film. The other reviewers must have
watched something else because this was slow, boring and completely
pointless. Nothing really happens in it at all. The plot generally
revolves around the main characters dislike for a bald guy. That's
about as interesting as it gets. Don't waste your time.

I was never bored. I thought it was interesting.

He stumbles from the lab to the field by the parking lot to the train bathroom to an underpass for TWENTY MINUTES!!! Culminating with him popping his blood-filled sores. And then wakes up completely healed in the hospital. Explain the significance of stumbling around for twenty minutes sans any dialogue, mostly at night, except boredom?

reply

He was not simply "popping his blood-filled sores." SPOILER ALERT: He was committing suicide. Those weren't sores. They were tumors. He wasn't popping them, he was slitting his wrists. Had you paid any attention at all, you would have understood that he had 'contracted' the same disease as his son. When he's sitting in his son's room, and his son is breathing so laboriously, and he stands up with the pillow? That's implying that he used the pillow to smother his son, putting him out of his misery. The final scene of the movie, when he wakes up completely healed, his ex-student explains that his immune system overcame the 'disease,' she asks why his son didn't survive, as well. BOOM! OH SNAP! THERE IT WAS AND YOU MISSED IT! HE KILLED HIS SON, THINKING HE WAS PUTTING HIM OUT OF HIS MISERY, WHEN REALLY HIS SON WOULD HAVE GOTTEN BETTER, JUST LIKE HE DID! He killed his son and ruined his marriage/life for pretty much no reason other than the fact that he thought he was doing the right thing. Intense stuff. It's a shame some people have to have it literally spelled out for them, but these cerebral movies aren't for everyone.

That's the thing. The caps in that guys post showed more suspense and passion than this movie did. The premise was interesting, the writing and pacing made it a bore for me.

I care for and felt more for the mice than any of the humans. It's not just THAT a story is told, it's about HOW it's told. Pacing and tone is everything in movies like this. For some it worked for others, like me, it didn't.

Sounds like most Chinese movies and soaps. They're so into posing, it's ridiculous. Maybe that's why I found this movie on a Chinese website. I'm gonna pass this one up based on so many comments about it being boring. Thanks for the heads up.

Under our clothes, we are all naked! Bare nipples (of females), genitals or buttocks is nudity.

I agree with your interpretation mikero17. In fact the only bit of this film that I liked was the end, in that they had the balls not to spell things out.

Cerebral though?

I liked the movie but THAT was really annoying!

reply

Pretty harsh to give it a 5.2, though.
