Kane knew Ian was his son

The speech he gave him at the end of the episode hints at it at least.

reply

I think he does suspect that Ian is his son and that the speech served as both a noting of that but also a lesson from father to son about entitlement and earning his own way.

I would love for Ian to become a little more darker next season and as screwed up as it may be, continue his relationship with Emma. It may be gross and twisted but it would show how *beep* up Ian and Emma really are and add to Ian's darkness.

didnt Emma find the document in Tom's closet that basically said Ian was his son. So Im pretty sure tom knows

That was Ian's appartment, not Tom's.

reply

that speech was about stupping his daughter... not about him knowing

reply

Yes, Kane knows. Ian didn't know though, he seemed genuinely surprised at Kane's response, but Kane knew all along.

reply

I agree! Kane knew it and served that boy noticed when he started getting a little to familiar. He wanted Ian to earn every appointment and through trust he would be promoted not blood. Look at Emma, he doesn't think twice about throwing her under the bus!

reply

Least we know that his purpose was not to destroy Kane. But given how he threw his own daughter under the bus, why would he think he would be treated any different.

reply

How would Ian not know when Tom's name is on the birth certificate?

Ian didn't know that Tom knew who he was. Until that speech.

This is the STUPIDEST day I've ever had!

+1

BTW What a nice family!

Google is your enemy.

reply

It seems ridiculous he wouldn't keep track of this since he paid his mother off and he pretty much knows the timing of the bowl movements of everyone in Chicago.

Of course Kane knew who he was and the speech proved it. Ian didn't know he knew his identity, however. He'll groom Ian to carry out his dark deeds when he's gone and to protect his legacy. Ian intentionally sleeping with his half-sister shows how demonic he's already become.

Do you think Kane wouldn't do a thorough background check on anyone within his reach? The man doesn't care about his daughter, he certainly doesn't care about his bastard son.

reply

So did he fire Ian or demote him?

"They're not really reindeer, they're huskies with antlers"

reply

Ian was only on loan.

reply

Kane took Ian on permanently mid way through the second season; Kane sent him to smooth things over with Alderman Driscoll after making him a permanent part of his staff, which Ian did by going down on her.

Ian has Kitty's old job; he is a personal aide to the Mayor. Kitty now has Ezra's old job as the Mayor's Chief of Staff.

As to the original question, I think Kane knew all along and was sounding out Ian's loyalties.

No you are wrong on 2 accounts

1. He was on load, he wasn't their for a permanent position.

2. I wasn't asking a question, I made a statement.

reply

1. He was initially on loan, then was hired permanently mid-season.

2. He was referring to the original post by the OP.

"You know that you have a spoiler as the topic of your thread right? Luckily for me, I came across this display of ignorance after having watched Season 2 but try not to be an inconsiderate f-k and ruin something, anything, about this great show for others. Idiot! "

qft, pls don´t put spoilers like that in the topic title.

Pretty much...what a stupid title, should be banned for *beep* like this.

reply

I never understand if you are upset about reading spoilers don't read it first. Watch it first then read it later. Some people don't use their brains.

Well like I said before, you should use your brain. A title like "Kane knew Ian was his son" is bound to have spoilers in it. So why would the person (who doesn't want to read spoilers) click on something that would give them information? I don't support people who put spoiilers in posts but then everyone will have to title their post with spoilers and I know not everyone does it. So back to what I said, the person is stupid enough not to carefully read the title shouldn't click on it in the first place. Then they (like you) blame everyone else for not putting SPOILER (because NOT EVERYONE DOES IT). You have to read the title first before you click on it because it's your fault you clicked on it don't go blaming other people. USE YOUR BRAIN.

Some people come on a movie board before finishing a series because they hope to get an answer to something that is not clear. So, there can be good reason to come on a board before watching the whole thing. Duhhh.
